FAREWELL TO A FRIEND:</U>
Last week the StockArt gallery bid farewell to oibyrd, an amazing GD and wonderful friend.
This week it is my sad duty to break the news of another friend of stock stepping down from his position as Gallery Director.
radioPooh has handed in his key to the Tardis and is now off on another journey as a senior member of this site. Radiopooh has been GD since before I had even heard of Stock Art. His determination, good nature and love for our gallery, and community as a whole, has given Stock Art a new life - when back in the dark ages it used to be the 'cooler' alternative to putting something in scraps. RP has brought the quality back, built the community and fended off the people that consider Stock Art to be... well, less than art, over the space of many a year.
`Master Pooh, we salute you! Thank you.
FEATURES AND TIPS:</U>
Not just a form of entertainment you can zone out to anymore... TVs and Movies are also big for stockers! A lot of us consider ourselves psuedo-actors in our own rights anyway so why not impersonnate some of our favourites from the big screens! Artists also love a good ol' movie every now and again But what can they do when there is so much copyright holding down professionally taken images? Check out the STOCK GALLERY! That's what! There are plenty of people willing to dress up like their idols and prance around the way they do. It may not be exactly the same but sometimes 'close enough' IS good enough.
WIN A YEAR'S dA SUBSCRIPTION:

TIPS FOR IMPERSONNATING TV & MOVIES:
First of all - find a 'fandom' that you love and know a lot about. Your stock will come out better if it is something you are passionate about or enjoy a lot.
You don't have to get every detail of costume down pat. Just use what you have or drop by the Op Shops and pick up something cheap that can work just as well.
Collecting toy or replica weapons will always help SOMEONE. Anything from Hercules and Xena styles all the way to Star Trek... if there is a model stocker out there needing to hold something you can be the one to supply it!
Act. Don't just stand around in costume - try and get in character. How do the characters move? What kind of facial expressions do they use? They obviously don't just stand there slack-jawed... so pretend to be talking to, or fighting something. It'll come in handy.
TV & Movies don't just work for model stockers. Statues, nature, places, objects... you may be walking down the street and think that building looks like something out of The Day After Tomorrow. Take a photo. It won't hurt. How about that dog leaping into the air? Hey, Toto from the Wizard of Oz might have a place in someone's artwork as he gets swept up in a tornado.
Research. By 'research' I mean sit on your couch and have a movie marathon You don't have to take notes - but get in 'the zone' before you try and re-enact what happens. That way you'll get it closer to the original.
You don't just have to go by the movie or tv footage. You'll find that a lot of films have promo images and posters. If not - immitate a few of your own.
STOCKER CONTESTS:</U>
Its not just about the prizes! Stockers get to see all the lovely artwork made with their stock and a set theme in mind. If you have a stock contest you want promoted, drop me a note with the details

STOCK CLUBS:</U>
We love them to bits - so we make MORE of them! Each are specialising in one thing or another and THIS WEEK we have another brilliant club to promote to the masses.
'Help the Stockers, Because They Help YOU!' That's the catch-phrase this club is sporting. Stockers spend money from their own pockets to bring us better costumes, better props, use high-quality cameras, backdrops, lighting... you name it. All for the love of their art, and YOURS.
HTS is helping to promote stockers, advertise stockers that need donations, and offer help with getting stock galleries even higher quality than they already are. Even if you can just feature a stocker in your journal - you're helping. So drop by and see what is going on and maybe even lend a hand to the generous souls that give you the resources you need for your art.
FOCUS ON THE FORUMS!:</U>
The StockArt forums are located here: forum.deviantart.com/galleries…
A place for stockers to promote their contests, artists to request specific stock, ask for help finding stock, discuss stockart in general and much more! We go a little silly sometimes but don't let that scare you off! Just remember what we're about - STOCK!!
ostit: Bye Bye Low Res: by LawrenceDeDark. The Low Res Stock Category is DEAD! Watch us all rejoice as the level for Stock Quality gets raised! We don't need your low resolution webcamming! All Low Res now belongs in scraps. Come celebrate with the crew.
ostit So What makes a Good Stock Artists?: by UnicornReality. High resolution? Great personality? Creativity? All of the above and then some? We've already given this thread OUR views on what WE think (maybe we're biased though) so tell us what you think makes up a great stocker. Don't be shy now!

Drawing
Initially... that said 'dragging'. I don't know why. My brain is strange.
Anyway, have been really craving drawing lately. No pencils. Am bummed, totally.
Photogarphy is going a lot slower around this time of year, naturally. That's not at all fun. My portable harddrive died so it's going to be interesting trying to upload stock when I can't move it to the 'uploading' computer.
In the meantime - gonna start doing emotes again I think :) Old skool emotes... but emotes all the same
BTW, for those who missed it fierystock (https://www.deviantart.com/fierystock)
And for my photography FBabyPhotoG (https://www.deviantart.com/fbabyphotog) :)
Myspaceface
I obviously haven't been around for AGES so can anyone tell me if the stock gallery is still having problems with myspaceface? :D
Anyone remember that old project I had going called the Myspaceface Project?
Was thinking of starting it up again... maybe even doing some other versions of it. Like a miscat project or something :giggle:
Suggestions?
BTW, for those who missed it fierystock (https://www.deviantart.com/fierystock)
I'm in ur....
I'm in ur stockartz! Gettin' aaaaaall nekkid :paranoid:
Let's play a game I like to call ... Where's Wally Ellie?
Hints:
1) I'm not wearing red and white stripes
2) I'm not wearing glasses
3) I'm not wearing a beanie
4) Actually, I'm not wearing anything so points 1 to 3 are kind of stupid I am not holding a cane.
Onwards!
:nana:
Yeah, I've posted up some of my old stock on a new stock account! Refreshing... being able to completely shun/ignore/forget about old accounts and start anew.
Will be doing more new stuff... maybe... most likely...
Tomorrow if I can get my arse into gear.
Photo5
The week Ellie got even busier than usual!
Yes, Canon Photo5 Competition is on again and I've once again entered.
This year I have the chance of winning a spanky new camera :aww: Actually, we get that chance every year but this year I'm actually giving a damn... since my camera is starting to die :(
If you wanna see my entries, just do a search for FireBaby10 in the entries section
Though, speaking of entries - I have to do a black and white photo using incense ... sooooo anyone have any ideas? I suck at both black and white AND smokey shots so I'm stumped :(
BTW, thank you for the birthday wishes :D I had a SICK day! (Sick = goo
